The youth volunteered during the worship services as acolytes, presenters, offering carriers, ushers, readers, and greeters. They learned the purpose and vision for various committees and worked jointly with the adults. They performed songs throughout the year during the worship service and participated in the hiding and sharing of the Hallelujah banner.
The youth attended Youth Quake 2018, a WNC synod event, walked in the Brevard CROP Hunger Walk, sorted supplies for Sharing House and The Haven, painted the football player for Super Bowl Sunday, made ornaments for Good Shepherd’s giving tree, selected, collected, and counted noisy offerings, made containers for local schools to collect dried out markers, and made cards for some of our homebound members. The picture below includes markers from LCGS, Pisgah Forest Elementary, Brevard Elementary, and Rosman Elementary. Brevard Academy mailed their markers separately.
The youth studied different methods of prayer including coloring and singing prayer, painting prayers on rocks to share downtown, prayer positions, praying for the length of a chime, and the use of prayer chapels. The pictures included show complete and semi-complete prayer chapels. There is an opening on the bottom of each chapel to place the prayer(s). We look forward to ending the school year with an Inter-generational Pentecost Event on June 9!
