Dear Representative _____________,
At least since the end of WW II, the U.S. has been a global leader in support for people affected by war, famine, and natural disaster. I write to urge you to continue that great tradition of leadership by joining more than two dozen of your colleagues from both parties to co-sponsor H.Res.189 and to demonstrate that commitment by supporting an increase in global nutrition funding to $250 million in the fiscal year 2020 appropriations bill.
We have made remarkable gains in food production in recent decades, yet almost half of all child deaths worldwide are still linked to malnutrition. My faith calls me to have compassion and stand alongside women and children around the world. I urge you to join Reps. Marshall and McGovern as a co-sponsor of H.Res.189 and to increase our nation’s commitment to and investment in efforts to advance global nutrition. Providing $250 million for global nutrition this year could reach more than 10 million women and 7 million children with nutrition programs that will enable more children to grow and reach their full potential.
